Police Arrests Three Kidnappers, Rescues Victims In Ogun

September 06, 2022

The Ogun state Police Command has arrested no fewer than three kidnappers Aliu Abubakar, Umaru Tukur and Yau Isah just as it rescued three abducted victims at a forest along Imeko- Iwoye ketu axis of the state.

The victims were said to have been rescued from their abductors, who fled the scene on sight of the policemen, unhurt.

The command’s public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi stated that the suspects were arrested following a distress call received by policemen at Imeko divisional headquarters.

According to the Spokesperson, the kidnappers numbering about eight, armed with dangerous weapons had blocked Termac/ Iwoye road and shot sporadically at the police officers.

Oyeyemi, through a statement released on Tuesday, stated that the information revealed further that the hoodlums had injured the duo of Bode Ogunleye and Muhammad Basa, while the trio of Alhaji Fatai Abdulsalam, Alhaji Dauda Orelope and Alhaji Rafiu Isah were abducted by the same group.

The PRO disclosed that upon the receipt of the distress call, the DPO Imeko division, mobilized his men in conjunction with men of Amotekun corps, So safe corps, Hunters, Vigilantes as well as Fulani/Yoruba youths and stormed the forest in search of the victims and their abductors.

“Due to the intense pressure, the kidnappers abandoned their victims and took to flight leaving an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle behind at their hideout in the forest.

The victims were rescued unhurt, while the security operatives continued combing the bush which led to the discovery of the three amongst the suspects where they were hiding in the forest.”

Oyeyemi further stated that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to anti kidnapping section of the state Criminal investigation Departments for discreet investigation.
