In her own presentation, Alhaja Thalisu Munirah Adeola who spoke on marital topic “Polygyny in Islam: Facts, Fears, Myths and Misconceptions” urged Muslim sisters to embrace polygyny/polygamy as one of the important decrees of Almighty Allah rather than just turning it into mere issue of woman folk.
She equally made it known to women that “the population of women is more than the men and to avoid fornication we have to allow our husbands to do the will of our Allah, The Creator of the phenomenon (Polygamy/Polygyny)”. Besides brotherhood as well as sisterhood on Islam is about wanting what you like for yourself for your fellow human being, hence, we, sisters(women) should allow our single or divorced sisters to be married by our husbands. This could be of help to both the married couple, especially when they do this with the fear of Allah SWT and engage in it as act of Ibadah.”
In an interview with Mrs. Adeola Thalisu, she advised that the first wife should not minimize her commitment with her husband and should always see whatever she was doing while she was still the only one before the marriage of second or third or fourth wife, as act of worship and for for the sake of Allah, so, she shouldn’t put an end to it, rather should continue within her capacity/capability with no detriment to her health, her happiness, her love life, her family and her piety to Allah SWT. ”
The male counterparts were also admonished to be just, fair and be compassionate in their dealings/affairs with their spouses. They should have fear of Allah SWT in whatever they do in their marital matters, as every one will gibe account of his/her affairs in all ramifications before Allah on the day of accountability.
” Our husbands kindly thread fairly and with 100% piety, for every deed shall attract either reward or punishment ” says the Chairperson organising committee, Hajia Baliqis Kudayisi Olayinka.
