Fountain University Sets For Her 12th Convocation Ceremony

For the 2021/2022 session, a total of 240 graduating students will be conferred with their first degree in various disciplines and 19 at the Postgraduate level precisely Master’s Degree.
This was disclosed at the press conference held at the Senate Building, Monday, 8th of January, 2023/ 16 Jumādā al-Thānī 1444 AH in Osogbo where the Vice Chancellor of the university interacted with newsmen on the weeklong activities for the convocation ceremony, the information made available to Lasilkiin.com by the university Information officer, Taoheed Alimi.
“The 12th Convocation and Graduation ceremony for the year 2023 is coming after the challenging COVID-19 pandemic has been thankfully behind us, this interaction with the Press is the ‘second course’ in our line-up of activities designed to celebrate our achievements, interact with our challenges, and exhibit our potentials and prospects.” Said the VC.
The details of the weeklong programme were highlighted as follows: Sunday, January 8 (15 Jumādā al-Thānī 1444 AH) Congregational Asalatu (Benediction Service) to be conducted by Deputy Chief Missioner of NASFAT Worldwide, Sheikh Abdul Lateef Ballo while Monday, January 9 (16 Jumādā al-Thānī 1444 AH) Interaction with the World Press, Senate Building which is taking place today.
On Tuesday, January 10/17 Jumādā al-Thānī 1444 AH) Interuniversity Games such as Football, Volleyball etc will be held and Wednesday, 11 January/18 Jumādā al-Thānī) will be for Interaction with the Alumni/Parents’ Forum Convention. Friday, 13 January/ 20 Jumādā al-Thānī is for Special Jummat Service: between 13:00pm – 13:45pm as the Convocation Lecture by Professor Abdul Hakeem Olanrewaju Fagbohun (SAN, NPOM) shall come up on this same Firday with the lecture entitled “The Nigeria University System: between Public Hopes and Individual Expectations of the 21st Century”. Scheduled between 2:45pm – 4:15pm.
And the grand finale will be on Saturday, 14 January/21 Jumādā al-Thānī) which is the Convocation Day, to go alongside commissioning of F.K. Lawal Male Hostel: 9:00am – 9:30am while Conferment of Degrees and Award of Prizes will kick start from 10:00am – 1:300pm.
According to him, “Four notable Nigerians are to be awarded honorary degrees. These are ALHAJI SULAIMON ALAO ENIAFELAMO, Community Leader and HEAD OF ALL BAALES OF ISALE OSUN, OSOGBO to be awarded a doctorate degree in Sociology (Honoris Causa); Air Marshall Isiaka Oladayo Amao, Honorary doctorate degree in Public Administration; Vice Admiral Jubrila Ayinla, Honorary doctorate degree in sciences; Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State with a doctorate degree in Public Administration”.
Rundown on the some of the achievements made so far enumerated include but not limited to Academic Matters, Publicity and Web Presence, Students’ Welfare, National and International Linkages & Collaboration.
“The plan to open up our South Campus where the new colleges, Senate Building, the Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Centre for African and Diaspora Studies, Agricultural City, and of course the Teaching Hospital and College of Medicine are scheduled to be established is gaining a new momentum as our host community, the Osogbo people have agreed to settle out of court all disputes in respect of our land holdings. Alhaji Sule Alao Eniafelamo, the head of all Isale Osun families and household and his team deserve a special commendation”.
In addition the Second Inaugural Lecture was held on 11 August 2022 where speakers were invited from the French Research outpost in Nigeria, IFRA, Dr. Vincent Hiribaren, Chinese Xi Lun, German Ruediger Seesemann among others.
