FUO CONVOCATION: New Executive Sworn In For Parents Forum

Parents are major stakeholders and they play significant roles in the success of education and academic terrain of every student irrespective of the levels of their educational pursuit.
The management of the university deemed it fit and created a platform for the parents with their executives so as to continually monitor the performance and morals of their wards. As well as access the results of their children, their financial profile and every other things necessary to be known by the patents.

“In Fountain University Osogbo, FUO project, the parents forum is a major stakeholder, they are like shareholders, they have been very supportive in terms of development of infrastructures in the university, for instance provision of buildings, laboratories, cafeteria etc.” Said FUO VC, Prof. Amidu Sanni.
The VC added “So, today the university is ushering in new set of executives for the parents forum. We appreciate the past executives and their efforts while urging the incoming executives to work on deliberations that will ensure the challenges on ground will be taken care of”.
“The relationship between the university management and the parents forum has been a cordial, supportive one and we are hopeful that the newly sworn in executives shall also do wonders to the glory of Allah and for the benefit of the school and the students. Interesting enough some of our staffs are also parents and members of the parents forum, so is a win win efforts for all”.
In his own words, the immediate past chairman of the forum, Mr. Iyanda Dauda Gbadebo, thanked the Almighty Allah for giving the out gone executive council the opportunity to commence and complete the project being commissioned today, the Cafeteria, which started in September 2022.

According to him, ” the purpose of embarking on the Cafeteria project was to improve on the canteen services within the campus. Of course there are lots of issue as regard the limited number of canteen within the campus, hence, the parents forum step to look into this and make provision for it.”
“It’s our belief that with the existence of this cafeteria, there would be healthy competition between the service providers and our students will be a little bit relieved on the issue of challenges being faced with on canteen services system on the campus.”
He however advised parents who are yet to be part of the forum to do the needful by joining the forum, not only criticising from outside, rather join the other parents in the forum for the good of the university system and by extension their children. So that all the challenges being faced with can be collectively resolved.
Mr. Gbadebo also gave his piece of advised to the school management to continue to strive in improving the academic performance of the school, on academic environment and never relent on recruiting qualified lecturers and introduction of more courses so that the population of the students can increase.
Dr. Tijani Nasiru is the newly sworn in Chairman of the parents forum, his concern and programmes will be focused on welfarism of the students especially in the area of provision of water facility and the foundation of the hostel, maintenance of the projects provided by the past executives.

“I thank the outgoing executives for all their efforts. Maintaining all the projects is going to be our focus because if not well maintained might not serve the purposes they have been commissioned for.”
“So, I’m going work on this with the cooperation of other members of the forum, we can going to focus on maintenance of the existing projects. “If they are well used and maintained then more facilities can be thought of and provided for the students because what’s the essence of having facilities, projects, infrastructures without proper and effective maintenance?” Said Dr. Tijani.
Finally, he advised the students not to waste or misuse the opportunity that has been created for them by their parents for them to be in school, they should reciprocate this gesture by being responsible, serious with their studies and be appreciative of their hard earned monies of their parents because it’s not easy getting money, as many parents go through a lot give their children this opportunity of being in school to acquire knowledge which he prayed shall be beneficial knowledge.
“They should see it a privilege as many want to come but do not have that opportunity. So they should make good use of the privilege their parents have provided for them.”

The alumni council was also well represented to present the plights and need of students and the council among which is proposal to have a secretariat for the alumni council for deliberations, establishing stronger council especially with other past students of Fountain university Osogbo, who are also members of council here in Nigeria and in the diaspora.
“The Alumni appreciated the fact that the university management made use of the students who merited as employees of the school, “this is commendable and it’s a way of retaining good hands who like to work with the school.”

The president of the Alumni council, Mr. Shitta AbdulRasak ably represented by Beyios Shakiroh with other members of the council like Miss Salewa Fetuga, Mrs. Badejo, Miss Fajingbe, Mr. Osuolale among others were in entourage to the interaction with the Vice Chancellor.
High point of the interaction was the swearing in of the new executive council and commissioning of the cafeteria.
