NAHCON Chairman tasks journalists on accurate reportage as he inaugurates 2023 Hajj National Media Team

May 18, 2023                                      Fausiat Salako-Sanni

Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan has urged journalists to always be guided by the ethics of their profession while carrying out their duties.

Alhaji Hassan spoke on Thursday at Hajj House, Abuja while inaugurating the National Media Team for the 2023 Hajj.

He said the media can make or mar the society and as such, journalists should at all times uphold fairness, accuracy and objectivity.

While congratulating members of the team for scaling the selection hurdles, he said they should see themselves as partners in progress with NAHCON to achieve a seamless Hajj exercise.

Assuring that all registered pilgrims would be airlifted, “and right on time too”, Alhaji Hassan said the advance party of NAHCON officials will leave for Saudi Arabia on Sunday, 21st May to prepare the ground for Nigerian pilgrims.

In their remarks, Sheikh Suleiman Imonikhe Momoh, Commissioner for Planning, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services (PRSILS) and Nura Hassan Yakasai. Commissioner in charge Policy, Personnel Management & Finance also spoke in the same vein as Alhaji Hassan.

They advised members of the team to be true ambassadors of the journalism profession by being fair, objective and balanced in the herculean task of news reporting in Nigeria and in Saudi Arabia during the entire period of the Hajj exercise.
