NASFAT PARTNERS MSSN LAGOS TO HOLD QUIZ/ESSAY CONTESTS FOR STUDENTS

Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has partnered with the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos Area Council to organise a quiz competition for senior secondary school students in Lagos State, and an essay competition for students in universities in Nigeria.
This was made known in a statement signed and issued by the General Secretary of Nasfat, Alh. Dauud Sunmonu and Ameer of MSSN, Lagos Area Council, in Lagos today and made available to KIIN MEDIA.
According to the press release, the organisers said, the quiz competition is meant for senior secondary school students, specifically (SS 1 and 2) and would hold between June 3, 2023 and July 29, 2023, with the preliminaries kicking off on 3rd June, 2023, while submissions for the essay competition among university undergraduates will be received between 1st and 30th June and winners will be rewarded at the grand finale on 29th July 2023.
The organisers further explained that the competition is organised to encourage and reward academic excellence among students across in secondary schools in Lagos State and university students in Nigeria.
“The goal of the competition is to foster academic scholarship amongst Muslim students and also, to challenge and motivate them towards successful academic life,” part of the statement read.”
Explaining the modalities for the quiz competition, the statement noted that the competition would take place in three stages – the preliminary, the semi-final and the grand finale.
It reads: “The preliminary stage of the competition will focus on the participants competing with the best two Muslim students from each school in each local government area of the state with Mathematics, English Language, Islamic Studies and Current Affairs as their focus subjects.”
“The semi-final stage of the competition will be done in each of the 6 Districts of Lagos State. 10 winners across the schools in each district (in each category) of the preliminaries will compete at this stage.”
“The final stage of the competition will however be held as an oral quiz while the subjects as in the preliminary still apply. An automated PowerPoint presentation of the quiz question shall be used at the stage across the six districts.”
“After the completion of the District Stage, a one-day boot camp programme will be staged to further train the successful participants from the District Stage for them to compete stronger at the final stage as well as make them acquainted with the “Kahoot application” that will be used at the grand finale. Here, the qualifiers shall be trained on some problem-solving techniques and how to answer some questions within the shortest possible time. They shall be taken through the Kahoot application and how to answer questions on the app.”
The organisers further explained that, the grand finale of the competition would have dignitaries, including state actors, and captains of industries among others invited to grace the occasion.
“Dignitaries have been penciled down to witness the intellectual battle and rub minds on bridging the gap between knowledge and education and to re-orientate young students on career aspirations amidst social vices.”
Also, at the grand finale, the highest scorers of the essay competition shall be announced and awarded their cash prizes.
