In a bid to promote academic excellence and foster the development of future leaders, the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) in conjunction with the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Lagos Area Unit recently held a grand finale for their quiz and essay competition.
In the essay competition, Toheeb Ademuyiwa from the University of Abuja emerged as the first-place winner, followed by Aleem Oni from the University of Ibadan in second place, and Omotosho Abiola Sodiq, also from the University of Ibadan, in third place respectively.
The event, which witnessed the participation of over 500 secondary school students and tertiary institution students, was hailed as a resounding success.
In the welcome address by NASFAT’s President, Mr. Niyi Yusuf, who was ably represented by the Executive Secretary of the society, Mr. Abdulrahman Adogie, expressed appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and perseverance displayed by the participants. He also extended gratitude to the teachers and mentors who played a crucial role in training the participants and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.
Mr. Adogie quoted an Hadith from the sets of sayings and deeds of Prophet Muhammad, which emphasized the importance of seeking knowledge for every Muslim. He further encouraged the participants to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the competition.
Mr. Kamaldeen Abiona, the Amir of the MSSN Lagos Area Unit, also expressed his gratitude to NASFAT for sponsoring the event. He highlighted the significance of promoting academic excellence and acknowledged the efforts of the over 500 secondary school students who submitted entries for the first round.
“Through several rounds, the competition eventually narrowed down to eight students who qualified for the grand finale. Additionally, 160 entries were received from tertiary institution students, with six participants making it to the final stage,” said Mr. Abiona.
The keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Abdulwasiu Ayoola, the General Manager of Havek Leadership Academy. Ayoola spoke on the theme, “The Invincible Achiever,” while urged the participants to put in their best efforts and strive for success at every level. He emphasized the importance of comprehensive understanding and encouraged the participants to use their achievements to benefit others.
Miss Aminat Yusuf, the best graduating student in the faculty of Law, 2023 academic year at Lagos State University (LASU), inspired the participants with her words of wisdom. She encouraged them to have the intention of performing their actions in worship of Allah and to develop a genuine passion for their endeavours, coupled with hard work.

In the quiz competition, Kawlah Bello secured the first-place position, with Shonubi Mutmainah in second place, and Aliyah Bakare in third place.
The successful conclusion of the NASFAT and MSSN Lagos Area Unit quiz and essay competition serves as a testament to the commitment of these organizations in nurturing academic excellence and fostering the development of future leaders thereby creating an avenue and a platform where the participants showcased their knowledge, skills, and dedication, leaving a positive impact on all those involved.
In an interview with Kiin Media, some of the participants expressed their satisfaction about the competition and maintained that they won’t stop at further seeking beneficial knowledge to impact positively on humanity.
