Saudi Arabia Introduces New Visa-on-Arrival for Umrah Pilgrims

August 29, 2023

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has recently unveiled a significant revision to its Umrah visa policy, ushering in a momentous change for pilgrims.

In an effort to streamline the pilgrimage experience and enhance tourism, the KSA now allows Umrah pilgrims from a range of countries to obtain visas upon arrival.

“We are pleased to introduce this new visa-on-arrival scheme for Umrah pilgrims,” said a spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Tourism. “This will make it easier for people from around the world to come to Saudi Arabia and experience our rich culture and heritage.”

Saudi Visa-On-Arrival For Umrah

As per the announcement made by the Hajj Ministry of Saudi Arabia, effective immediately, individuals arriving from United States, United Kingdom, European Union countries, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, Brunei, China can avail themselves of the new Umrah visa-on-arrival option. This groundbreaking development aims to foster smoother travel arrangements and provide easier access to the sacred pilgrimage.

Seamlessly Accessible Entry

Under this innovative visa scheme, aspiring pilgrims can now enter Saudi Arabia through multiple avenues—be it by sea, air, or land. The introduction of this system guarantees a generous 90-day stay within the kingdom, affording ample time for religious observances and exploratory ventures alike.

Beyond Religious Pilgrimage

This visionary visa arrangement is not confined to religious journeys alone. In addition to serving Umrah pilgrims, it extends a warm welcome to other travellers who wish to foster connections with their loved ones residing in Saudi Arabia.

The expansion of this initiative transforms the kingdom into a destination for reuniting families and embarking on cultural explorations.

Simple Procedures and Guidelines

To seize this invaluable opportunity, eligible travellers are required to remit a visa fee of $117 USD, which encompasses comprehensive health insurance coverage. Saudi Arabia has taken measures to streamline the application process by offering an expedited and simplified procedure through its official eVisa website.

This user-friendly approach ensures that prospective pilgrims and visitors encounter minimal hassle during their preparations.

Prioritizing Health and Safety

While embracing this novel visa system, all visitors are strongly advised to remain informed about the latest health advisories and travel requirements applicable to Saudi Arabia. As the global situation evolves, keeping abreast of pertinent information will ensure a seamless and secure entry into the kingdom.

In a bid to enhance the pilgrimage experience, strengthen familial ties, and bolster tourism, Saudi Arabia’s new Umrah visa-on-arrival initiative marks a pivotal step towards fostering cultural exchange and facilitating spiritual journeys.

This landmark move stands to redefine the kingdom’s role as a global destination for both religious devotion and cross-cultural exploration.
