The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society, NASFAT, has formally inaugurated the new executive members for one of its zones in Nigeria, the Nasfat Lagos Zone 1, who will be at the helms of affairs of the Zone for the next two years (2023-2025).
The new executives were unveiled during a ceremony held on Saturday September 9, 2023, at the Zonal Secretariat located in Fashoro, Surulere, Lagos State.
Distinguished members of the society, including the National Executive Council/NAZOCC, representatives from the Zone council of elders, ZCOE, executive members from various branches/groups and committee members graced the occasion.
Inaugurating the event, NASFAT Vice-President 2, Prof. Rafiu B. Adegbola, lauded the event’s organisers for their impeccable execution.
He also commended the outgoing executive committee for their exceptional leadership during their tenure, noting, “You have exemplified the qualities of true leaders.”
Adegbola emphasised NASFAT’s tradition of expansion, which necessitates the installation of new leaders following the establishment of a new branch.
He expressed, “Our expansion continues, and when entrusted with responsibilities, we must accept them with gratitude and seek divine guidance.”
He further reminded attendees, “Your dedication, time, and resources are invested wisely. Always give glory to Almighty Allah for selecting you among numerous qualified individuals. You have every reason to be thankful.”
Adegbola urged both members and executives to actively contribute to the growth and development of NASFAT.
He stressed, “We all have a role in advancing NASFAT. This society has established primary and secondary schools, a university, a media outlet, and other agencies. It is our collective responsibility to support and identify with these institutions.”
Earlier in his welcome address, the outgoing Chairman of Lagos Zone 1, Engr. Mustapha Alabi, underlined NASFAT’s adherence to its constitution, which dictates a change in leadership after a two-year tenure.
He encouraged everyone to conduct their activities as dedicated members of the Muslim Ummah, emphasising the importance of thinking about NASFAT alongside personal life.
During his lecture, the Zone’s Ag. Zonal Missioner, Imam Barr. Uthman Jaji Mohammed, reminded leaders that holding a leadership position is a call to duty and that Allah is ready to guide them.
He noted, “The actions of past leaders still resonate today because their legacies speak volumes.”
Drawing from Quranic verses, he encouraged the audience to consistently display exemplary leadership.
He cautioned, “This position is temporary, and each of you will face tests. You must persevere.”
Imam Uthman Jaji Mohammed urged members to prioritise peace and unity.
Prof. Arogundade, Chairman of the Lagos Zone 1 Council of Elders, applauded the event’s organising committee for seamlessly combining the induction and inauguration ceremonies.
He challenged the new executives to remain committed to their responsibilities.
Adegbola then announced the dissolution of the existing executives, along with all existing committees, followed by the inauguration of the new executive committee.
In his acceptance speech, Alabi, renominated as Chairman of Lagos Zone 1, expressed gratitude to NASFAT’s leadership for the privilege and opportunity bestowed upon him.
He acknowledged the daunting task ahead and requested support, cooperation, and prayers from all members to achieve their collective goals and improve the zone’s performance and development.
He concluded, “We humbly ask for your support and prayers, for Allah’s assistance is paramount. May He continue to shower His grace and mercy upon us, our families, and friends.”
The highlight of the event centered around the inauguration of the new executives and the administration of the oath of office.
