UPDATE: Brake failure cause of Tanker accident on Abalti Barracks road – LASEMA

Vehicular movement was disrupted earlier this evening on the popular Ojuelegba road near the Abalti Barracks due to an accident that occurred which involved a tanker fully loaded with engine oil that fell by the side of the road while trying to manoeuvre due to brake failure.
In a situation report given by the DG of Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu as regard the incident in Lagos, it clarified some grey areas as no casualty was recorded.

Situation Report Regarding a Fallen Tanker at Abalti Barracks., Ojuelegba, inward Fadeyi.
Upon the arrival of LASEMA team at the incident scene, it was observed that a tanker with registration number DAL-250ZY fully loaded with 33,000Litres of engine oil had a solitary accident and fell sideways.
Further information gathered at the incident scene revealed that the accident occurred due to brake failure while the tanker was ascending bridge, lost control in the process and fell upside down.
Fortunately, no loss of life nor injuries sustained at the scene.
There is no threat of ignition. The Agency’s heavy duty equipment has been activated for recovery.
Emergency responders at the scene are LASEMA, Lagos State Fire Service, LASTMA, Federal Fire Service and NPF
