Professor Lateef Akanni Hussein, former VC LASU answers the call of Nature
The former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Ojo, Professor Lateef Akanni Hussein, has passed on. He was aged 75.
According to a statement posted on his official LASU Facebook page on Monday, Hussein died after a brief illness in the evening of Sunday, July 31, 2022.
Hussein, a professor of Physics was the sixth Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University; he served between 2005 and 2011.
The deceased is expected to be buried today, Monday, August 1,2022, according to Islamic rites.

The former LASU Vice Chancellor was a great academician and fatherly figure to many. He is one of the brightest from Ansar-Ud-Deen, Isolo and former H.O.D of the University of Ibadan Physics department and later Dean of the faculty of science at the same University of Ibadan.
He later became the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, LASU, where he fought entrenched corruption and left an unmatched legacy that shines till today.
He is a member of Oloto Royal family at Iddo. He was the second of two sons of Ganiat Ajoke Hussein Oloto, a granddaughter of Oba Esugbayi Oloto from the Magbamiloruko branch of the the Baalo Ruling house.
His elder and only brother Jamiu Alade Akinlade was the immediate past head of the Magbamiloruko branch.
He nurtured and assisted his Kith and kinsmen.
