Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society NAṢFAT, Islamic organisations and wealthy Muslims have been urged to put their resources together, forget their differences and put in place a befitting rehabilitation center in the country where Islamic practices and teachings can be put into use for the purpose of rehabilitating victims of drug abuse, drug addiction and related matters.
This call was made today at the NAṢFAT 24th Women’s Week programme specifically organised for the women to connect with the Youth of the society held at the society’s headquarters, Alausa, Ikeja.
The theme for this year’s programme is “Empowering Women To Combat Drug Addiction:A Faith-based approach”.
The three facilitators, Hajia Nofisat Ogunbona, Clinical Psychologist/Mental Therapist; Hajia Mohammad Hadiza, Motivational Speaker/ Guardian Counselor and Hajia Rianat Musa, a certified Psychologist/Consultant, who spoke extensively at the session collectively placed the challenge before the Muslim community to establish Islamic-inclined rehabilitation facility where victims of this menace can be attended to the Islamic ways.
“It’s disheartening that research has shown that larger percentage of the youth population is involved in drug abuse and this definitely as we can see around us is highly affecting the dream and future of our youth. Hence, this calls for serious attention and taking drastic steps to address this.” Hajia Rianat Musa.
“So, having such infrastructure in place with relevant professionals and personnel who will provide rehabilitating therapy and other life-saving mechanisms will go a long way in bringing succour to our people who are victims of this menace, as a result of one life challenge or the other. Which is most the cause of drug abuse and drug addiction.” Hajia Nofisat Ogunbona.
In her own submission, Hajia Mohammad Hadiza, Motivational Speaker/ Guardian Counselor opined that, subtle and mild method of parenting is very important in the upbringing of children of this generation, so as not allow them to be strangers to their parents while depending on the piece of advice outside the home as the best, neglecting the parents-children cordial relationship.
“Therefore, parents need to be relating very well and friendly with their offspring right from childhood to adulthood. Show them love and be their best if friends.”
According to the NAṢFAT National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Suwebah Kupolati, “the essence of this session is to further create avenues for we, mothers to have tête a tête with our children on things that we have identified as disturbing narratives that needed to be dealt with, so as not loose our dear future into the arms of drug abuse/addiction.”
NAṢFAT has been pursuing a policy thrust which is projecting the mission and vision of the society via HELD, that translates to Health Education Livelihood and Dawah. This one of the issue the Policy thrust is aimed to achieve for the good of humanity.
The women connect with the youth programme is always one of the lined up activities for the annual Women’s Week, to create an interactive forum between mothers and the youths.
Youth members from the different Zones, Branches and groups were present at the event
